Mission The Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry, Inc. serves Seniors, Women, Infants, Children, Veterans, Singles, unemployed/under-employed, Disabled and an ever increasing Spanish population. They have seen a significant growth in their clientele. In 1983 the pantry served 24 families and today they serve on average 100 families a month and this number continues to grow due to their country?s economics and several other factors. (i.e. rise in health care). Thru hard work and frugal management, the Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry has survived and grown. Their objective is to tailor a program that will feed and educate their clientele in proper diet, nutrition and how to best utilize the food supply that they distribute monthly. They are currently working with the county, town and numerous donors to move to larger quarters to satisfy the needs of a constantly enlarging population. The new facility, anticipated hiring of staff personnel and providing evening and Saturday hours will allow us to accommodate the needs of their current and future clientele. To cope with their ever changing clientele they must utilize outside sources and develop innovative plans to continue their efforts and to prepare for the future. They envision the proposed program(s) being sustained via grants, donations, fundraisers and other contributions. Today, the Churches of the Ministerium, the surrounding towns in the bayshore area, businesses, civic organizations, their neighbors and friends are donating their time, money and efforts to help us realize their goal.
? Pantry service ? Distribute food received from the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties as well as donated food. The pantry serves on an average 100 families per month in the greater northern Bayshore area which includes the communities of: Aberdeen, Cliffwood, Cliffwood Beach, Hazlet, Holmdel, Keyport, Marlboro, Matawan, Middletown, No. Middletown, Pt. Monmouth and Union Beach. Additional areas serviced with referrals from authorized agencies.
? Client referrals to state and/or private agencies for specific assistance.
? Prescreening of clients as well as non-clients for Food Stamps.
? Provide additional amenities via donations though limited (due to lack of space) of clothing, school supplies, toys, household items and children necessities such as high chairs, strollers, etc.
